Factory Director Ma Bin grabbed a bag of sea buckthorn pulp that had just come off the line, and his fingertips stroked the undulating wave pattern on the bag body-this is their newly used customized special-shaped bag, inspired by the Helan Mountain rock painting totem. "Half a year ago, our products were still piled up in the warehouse and covered with dust. Now we have to send three trucks of goods every day." He stroked the angular sealing line of the packaging bag, and his tone was full of emotion.
As the earliest enterprise engaged in deep processing of sea buckthorn in Ningxia, Yongning Factory once suffered from outdated packaging. The raw juice packaged in traditional upright bags is always mistaken by consumers as "cheap juice" on e-commerce platforms. Even with excellent quality, the monthly sales volume always hovers around 2,000 boxes. What's worse, the highly viscous sea buckthorn raw juice has serious residues in ordinary bags, and the negative review rate is as high as 12%. "We tried to change the packaging design, but the bag shape remains unchanged. No matter how beautiful the label is, it's like changing the soup but not the medicine." Wang Xia, the purchasing director, shook her head as she flipped through last year's report.
The turning point came after the introduction of special-shaped bag packaging machine. With the support of ply-pack's technical team, Yongning Factory first jointly developed an exclusive special-shaped bag with upstream suppliers: the bottom adopts a 15° inclined arc design, which reduces the residual amount after filling by 60%; the bag mouth is embedded with anti-counterfeiting serrated edge sealing, which not only improves the sealing performance but also becomes a visual logo. Three months after the new packaging was launched, the search volume of sea buckthorn original pulp of Yongning Factory on e-commerce platforms soared by 470%. In consumer evaluations, "the packaging has texture" and "recognize your home at a glance" have become high-frequency words. Even more unexpected is that a supermarket chain displayed the product in the imported food area, and the purchasing manager said bluntly: "The shelf impact of the special-shaped bags makes us willing to give a premium space."
Standing in the storage area, Ma Bin watched the workers load the last batch of "Rock Painting Series" to Shanghai. The special-shaped bag packaging machine was still roaring in the twilight, and the LED screen in the workshop was jumping with the daily output: 38,720 bags. This northwest factory, which once worried about unsalable products, is now using customized packaging technology to write a new chapter for the brand of Chinese agricultural products.
